The shaping method dry pressing

In every shaping process, the specific preparation of the initial body is crucial. This means that parameters and characteristics must be precisely defined and be reproducible. Of course, this also applies to dry pressing.

Dry pressing is characterized by low residual moisture showing a tendency towards zero. Dry pressing does not require further drying which makes the method ideally suited for parts requiring high dimensional stability and large quantities. Basically, all ceramic materials can be used.

A pressing tool for axial dry pressing consists of a pressing die and upper and lower punches. The punches can be divided into different segments depending on how complex the component is. A fill shoe is used to feed the pressing granulate into the mold. Double-ended pressing moves the upper and lower punch to achieve controlled compaction of the granulate. Single-ended pressing only moves the upper punch. The compacted part is withdrawn automatically using ejector, slide and gripper.
